FAQ

My camper has a severe allergy, can he or she go to Camp?

Camp IAWAH does not serve peanut or tree nut products. We endeavor to find nut-free ingredients however some are labelled by the manufacturer as "May contain of peanuts, tree nuts and sesame seeds" or "May contain traces of nuts, tree nuts and other seeds" IAWAH's Head Cook will coordinate safe food preparation and alternate menu items will be provided to the best of our ability. Those with severe allergies are strongly advised to communicate their needs to the Registrar. Guests are encouraged to bring their own peanut-free baked goods for snacks and desserts. All guests with severe allergies are encouraged to speak with the kitchen staff should they have any questions or concerns regarding the ingredients of a particular food.

What time is registration for my child's camp session?

Camper Registration: Sunday afternoon 2:30 – 4:00 pm.

Pick up: Saturday morning 9:30 – 10:30 am.

Why choose IAWAH for my child's summer camp experience?

Parents have told us over the years that they love our staff, our facility and that we provide a safe environment in which the good news of Jesus Christ is presented.

“IAWAH has high standards in terms of hiring and developing mature Christian staff. They have excellent programming, facilities, food and biblical teaching. Staff are observant, caring and responsive."-- Camper Parent

Where do the campers stay?

Campers stay in cabins with their cabin leaders. Most cabins sleep up to 8 campers with one cabin leader -- younger campers have groups of 7 with two cabin leaders. Cabins, while rustic, have electricity to provide for fans, alarm clocks, etc. Wash houses are centrally located, with hot and cold running water, showers and flush toilets.

How do I stay in touch with my child?

Online services for parents include daily camp photo upload and email delivery to campers. Parents may request a reply to their emails.

Why does Camp IAWAH discourage the use of cell phones and other mobile devices while my son/daughter is at Camp?

IAWAH seeks to provide a place where campers can experience a “simpler life” filled with physical activity, face to face interactions, and the enjoyment of creation. We find that cell phones and iPods can distract from this experience and potentially cause isolation or stress (if the device is lost).  Parents are encouraged to use the eCamp email.

What is IAWAH's Summer Camp Cancellation Policy?

The deposit for each camp session is non-refundable; this is $100.00 for most camps except JumpStart for which the deposit is $75.00. The balance of the fee is refundable if the cancellation is received no less than 30 days prior to Registration Day or if accompanied by a physician's medical certificate. No refund will be made for late arrivals, early departures or dismissal due to disciplinary action.

My child has never been to camp before -- what will help me to prepare my child for his/her upcoming camp session?
OurKids.net, an organization that provides information on summer camps in Ontario and elsewhere, has put together an excellent resource called Preparing for Camp.

Does Camp IAWAH provide overnight service between camp sessions?

Overnight stays are not provided on Saturday nights. Parents are responsible to make arrangements for accommodation between sessions.
