Initiative Games
Recommended for grades 1 & up

Initiative games are games with a purpose. They are the beginning stage of the Team Challenge program and are aimed at providing opportunities for the participants to have fun together as a group, acquaint group members with each other, introduce team work, encourage positive communication, and promote problem-solving principles.

Team Challenge
Recommended for grades 5 & up

Team Challenge consists of strategically designed problems presented to a small group of people. The problems are presented in a sequence beginning with ice breakers and initiatives, then building towards trust activities and increasingly more difficult tasks. Guarding one another's safety is a key component in the process.

Team challenges may or may not include time in one of the three low ropes courses, which are located in beautiful forest settings. Elements allow participants to use team skills while taking on a challenge from one foot to ten feet off the ground. Facilitators design an activity sequence depending on the participants' needs, focus, and group dynamics.

Whatever the dynamics or desired focus, IAWAH's Facilitators can design and lead a Team Challenge program that is right for you--rain or shine!

New!  Team Giant Swing |  Important note for Participants
Offered for grades 5 & up

This 15.3 m (50 ft) Double Team Swing Shot was professionally installed in November 2010.  A team of 8-10 pulls two people to the height of their choice.  Students have the opportunity to harness in for a great ride.  They must communicate with their pulling team and the team must respect the pair’s level of comfort for challenge and risk.

High Ropes |  Important note for Participants

Recommended for grades 5 & up

The High Course consists of six professionally constructed elements suspended in trees approximately 7.5 m (25 ft) in the air. Participants are given a tour of the course including the options available to them and are then encouraged to set goals for themselves.

IAWAH uses 'Choose your Challenge' as a basis for selecting an element or distance to travel, moving participants a step beyond their comfort zone to try something new. High ropes is an excellent activity choice for promoting goal-setting, healthy risk-taking, and development of self-confidence in a physically and emotionally safe environment.

Recommended for grades 8 & up

IAWAH offers a Mega Initiative Challenge to small groups.  The group is given a mission—they must work together to set a goal, create a plan and execute that plan.  Participants are taught appropriate climbing and belay skills which they become responsible for during the initiative.

Climbing Wall |  Important note for Participants

Recommended for JK to Grade 12

IAWAH's 121 m2 (1300 ft2) square foot indoor wall has eight faces with climbs and bouldering routes ranging from beginner to advanced. Rock holds of varying sizes and textures allow participants to use different climbing and bouldering techniques. Overhangs, inclines, and micro holds make the climbing wall an excellent choice for participants of all ages and abilities.
