• I have an anaphylactic allergy; can I visit Camp IAWAH?
  Camp IAWAH does not serve peanut or tree nut products. We endeavor to find nut-free ingredients, however some are labelled by the manufacturer as “May contain traces of peanuts, tree nuts and sesame seeds” or “May contain traces of nuts, tree nuts and other seeds.” IAWAH’s head cook will coordinate safe food preparation and alternate menu items will be provided to the best of our ability. Those with severe allergies are strongly advised to communicate their needs to the camp through their Group Contact. Guests are encouraged to bring their own peanut-free baked goods for snacks and desserts. All guests with severe allergies are encouraged to speak with the kitchen staff should they have any questions or concerns regarding the ingredients of a particular food.
• What are your accommodations like?
  Camp IAWAH is a very clean and well-maintained camp – but it is a camp. Most rooms have two to three bunk-beds with vinyl-covered, cot-sized, 4-6-inch foam mattresses. Beds marked as doubles are two of these mattresses side-by-side. Cabins—used in the warm seasons only—have washrooms located in another building a short walk away. Washrooms in our winterized lodges have either centrally located washrooms (Derbyshire & IAWAH Lodges) or an ensuite washroom (Bush Lodge). All washrooms have showers, toilets and sinks. • What kinds of retreat groups do you typically host?
  Camp IAWAH hosts many retreat groups from churches and para-church organizations around Eastern and Central Ontario; a smaller number of groups come to IAWAH to work on projects like scrapbooking, quilting and rug-hooking. IAWAH’s purpose is to plant seeds of faith, nurture disciples and cultivate leadership. To find out more about what we believe, please read more about us.
• Why does IAWAH ask that our group carry Off-Property Liability Insurance?
  Camp IAWAH encourages event organizers to acquire Off-Property Liability Insurance to provide coverage to a group having a function on a site other than their own (i.e. school or church building). While IAWAH does carry its own insurance, in the case of a claim, the organizers of the event would be the first party to be sued in any legal action. If there is no insurance, then the organizer places his or her own personal wealth on the line. It is strongly recommended that organizers speak with their group’s insurance broker.
• How do I book IAWAH-led activities for my group’s retreat?
  The best way to book activities like indoor climbing or archery for your group is to do so at the time of booking. If requesting IAWAH-led activities after this time, please do so at least one month prior to the start of your event.
• Does Camp IAWAH allow alcohol on site?
  No.
• Can our group use the Camp IAWAH kitchen?
  Camp IAWAH staff strive to provide the best possible food service for our guests. Access to the kitchen for group cooking is not provided.
• Does Camp IAWAH host weddings?
  Due to the unique nature of each wedding ceremony, please contact the office to discuss the possibilities. Please note that the site is unavailable for use from mid-June through mid-September each year.
